Villa in Torviscas
First beach day after quarantine
Hey everyone! Since yesterday we''re finally allowed to go the beach !!! Which in this +30C heat is invaluable.. Here's a small part of our fantastic Monday - hope you feel the happy vibes!! And if not, I'm sure you have some other precious things in life that you are currently grateful for and that make you happy. For us it was definitely going to the beach in Santa Cruz again, and even although water was freezing and waves were crazy strong * high, it's still nice to finally appreciate the real island life. Almost in full. ;)
All shot on iPhones and without much editing; we woke up super early (for me - 7am !!) and brought snacks, water and MUCH needed coffee with us, and later on had an amazing quick lunch at the beach cafe... Dream life! =D Sending you all a big virtual hug and till soon xxx
USA trip. New York, part 2
The last part of our US trip - almost a whole week in Brooklyn, wandering and cycling through Manhattan streets, meeting old friends and sightseeing again (we both visited NYC before), - ohhh this all feels likes a dream right now, while on lockdown..! I'm actually having such a good time right now writing this post and going through all those photos & memories :)
-
This was our beautiful apartment in Brooklyn from Airbnb. Not gonna put the link though as wasn't very happy with the landlord's rules: we weren't allowed to touch / use / sit on 70% of the apartment's facilities!!! Including that rocketing chair for instance =\
-
..So we didn't spend too much time inside obviously. This was taken on the way from Williamsburg to Lower Manhattan/ East Village part, from a taxi
-
Celebrated Edu's birthday with his amazing friends in a Mexican resto with tacos and micheladas (<3 !!! so delicious)
-
Also went to an Argentinian restaurant with a good friend of mine, - a paradise for meat lovers...the guys were happy :) :)
Then we went to Terminal 5 to see live concert of King Princess, - great experience! I've been at Terminal 5 in 2009 last time to see Air. After the concert we walked to Times Square but it was absolutely freezing so didn't spend much time and came back home.
-
Next day was more walks around Midtown area - Grand Central, NY Public Library, newly reopened and a tad bit expensive MoMA (thanks to our friend who got his membership there, it almost didn't cost us anything) and other famous NY' spots...
-
In front of Grand Central, by Edu
-
NYC Public Library was super crowded.. I think partly it became even more popular after Sex and the City's 2008 movie, since Carrie and Big were supposed to be married there.. It does really look spectacular.
-
Coming out the Library to the 5th Avenue
-
MoMA posers =)
-
Cycling tour the next morning! We started from East Broadway-ish in the morning and finished late night (with lunch and wine stops, lol))) around Chelsea / Greenwich Village, then came back to East Broadway.
-
Somewhere around Two Bridges
-
9/11 Memorial and Museum & World Trade Center by Santiago Calatrava (below). So emotional and incredibly sad...<3
-
This, I think, was Hudson River Park
-
The High Line sightseeing next day
-
Love this hearts mural as seen from the High Line <3
-
Vessel, Hudson Yards
-
Harlem Meer, Northern part of Central Park - that day we've walked a whole marathon distance =)
-
Our last morning in NYC... sad feeling. Esp when it's autumn with its melancholic mood and vibrant yellow colors..
-
And no matter how long you're staying, how busy this city always is, despite all the crowded streets and crazy traffic, it's never enough of you, New York. Till we see each other again and, hopefully, quite soon <3
Here's a little piece of it, at the legendary Miss Bradshaw' apartment on Perry St. (the link will open in a new window) :
And here's some more of Carrie and Sarah Jessica Parker who I love dearly and who's been my inspiration and salvation of some sort, for many, many years... no matter how sad you are, that girl with her friends and 'her' city will always make you feel a little better. :)
Evening walks
First 'unlockdown' run
Happy Mother's Day to all mommies around Spain!!! It's overwhelming how many different dates there are for this important day, but since we are living in Spain, I guess it'd be appropriate to mention it here today, on a blog written from Canary islands :)
This weekend is particularly special also because of transition to the first phase of un-lockdown -- from yesterday we're allowed to go outside for some early morning and evening hours, and of course we went for a run. It felt SOOO GOOD !!! And even though my body is super sore today, I'm still glad we did it, because, you know, how much longer can a person take of being locked inside?! Even Mona Lisa went bananas..))
Last run was exactly 2 months ago, when Barcelona marathon was still on, and before I was sick with all sorts of flu... Now it's postponed to October, so all fun of training must go on!!! See you on the roads guys - soon we all are gonna be FREE and hopefully back to our normal lives again.. xxx
USA Trip. Death Valley
-
After beautiful Tenaya lake we were ready to embrace the endlessness of Death Valley's dry, bald territory
-
Really can't remember why I had such face here.
-
Stopped at a small town of Tonopah on our way to Death Vally Inn motel
-
Had a strong feeling of 'Hills have eyes' there, tbh: the town looked and felt almost completely abandoned in a sudden mode.. Wouldn't wanna spend a night there =/
-
Kept driving to Beatty, NV, to the mentioned hotel - another creepy, ghost looking town with the only difference of a shorter proximity to Las Vegas, NV, hence saw more life there.
-
Arrived late at night to the hotel, exhausted after our looong drive and windy Death Valley
-
Was nicely surprised in the morning by the look of our motel - click on image to be redirected to their website, if you're in the area and wanna see their prices! The link will open in a new window.
-
Inside it looked very nice and newly furbished, they even have a pool - for hotter summer weather! Very recommend it.
-
Then we had breakfast and a short walk around town, only to realise that our motel was apparently one of the most luxury looking spots in Beatty..)) The impression was stronger since everyone can smoke inside the restaurants / diners, whereas in hotel it was not allowed (YAY!))).
We kept driving back towards Los Angeles in order to catch a plane that evening, and found this real looking piece of desert on the way, so had to stop and take some photos! You can find some HERE , too (scroll down for Death Valley part).
-
Just had a good time and silly laughs as were really excited to finally see this legendary place!.
-
And here we were back to Los Angeles and its CRAZY traffic and rhythm of life.
-
At some point I counted 9 (?) lanes each way. After Tenerife's 2 lanes on the main capital's motorway that felt insane, even as a passenger. How driver (Edu) felt - I don't even wanna think..
-
The pressure was real also since we had to catch the plane (can you actually say 'catch ' about a plane?))) and give back our rented car, filled up with gasoline beforehand. So yeah, that was a hell of a stressful drive..
-
But we had some good, funny moments too, though. For instance, we've created a name for our unborn, imaginary child, based on a couple of places we passed by: Archibald Cucamonga ! =D
In the end we made it, of course thanks to my genious directions Edu's smart driving (there were a few times when he didn't listen to me and was right. Rather an exception tho, of course..)) and super nice staff of SIXT car rental company, so we came back to New York in time, safe and sound, although very stressed out and completely exhausted... but New York had almost a WEEK of relax waiting for us, so we were just really very happy that we made it to the flight in time. Xx
